Abuja MoU Gears Up for the 14th Port State Control Committee Meeting and 5th Ministerial Conference

The Abuja Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is excited to announce the upcoming 14th Port State Control Committee Meeting (14th PSCC), alongside the 5th Ministerial Conference and the 25th Anniversary Celebration in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

Conference Theme:

“Strengthening Ethics and Integrity in PSC Inspections: Regional Cooperation to Eliminate Sub-Standard Shipping”

This year’s theme underscores the importance of ethical practices and integrity in Port State Control (PSC) inspections, while highlighting the need for regional cooperation to effectively eliminate substandard shipping across the West and Central African region.

Event Highlights:

  • 14th PSCC Committee Meeting:
    Date: 10th – 12th September 2024
    This meeting will gather Director Generals of Maritime Administrations and Heads of Port State Control Officers from the Abuja MoU region. They will review the progress of the Abuja MoU, strategize for the future, and ensure the effective implementation of PSC activities.
  • 25th Anniversary Celebration:
    Date: 12th September 2024
    A special celebration to mark 25 years of the Abuja MoU’s commitment to ensuring safer and cleaner seas by eliminating substandard shipping. This milestone event will reflect on the MoU’s achievements and set the stage for the next phase of its mission.
  • 5th Ministerial Conference:
    Date: 13th September 2024
    Ministers responsible for maritime transport from the 22 member states of the Abuja MoU will convene to discuss and endorse critical decisions that will shape the future of maritime standards and port State control activities in the region.
