In commemoration of the 2026 International Day for Women in Maritime, celebrated under the theme “From Policy to Practice: Advancing Gender Equality for Maritime Excellence,” the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association Cameroon (WISTA Cameroon) organized a series of interactive awareness and mentorship sessions for students of RHIBMS University and Government Technical High School Buea in the South West Region of Cameroon.
The initiative was aimed at inspiring young students, particularly girls, to explore the diverse career opportunities available within the maritime sector. The sessions featured engaging discussions, career orientation activities, and experience-sharing presentations delivered by maritime professionals.
The outreach programme also provided participants with valuable insights into the maritime industry, highlighting the important role of women in shipping, maritime administration, logistics, marine operations, and other related fields.
Through these activities, WISTA Cameroon reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the next generation of maritime professionals and promoting a more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable maritime industry in Cameroon and beyond.
