We are pleased to announce the triumphant conclusion of the 5-day intensive training course on the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC, 2006) at Hôtel Sawa, Douala, Cameroon. Organized by the Abuja MoU Secretariat in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Cameroon Ministry of Transport, this event was a remarkable achievement.
This training was a pivotal experience for Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) in the Abuja MoU region, as it encompassed crucial aspects of the MoU’s Relevant Instruments. The knowledge gained is vital for PSCOs to effectively conduct inspections and ensure the protection of seafarers’ rights and overall well-being.

“MLC 2006 is essentially the Seafarer’s Bill of Rights, and it’s concerning that many countries in the Abuja MoU have not yet ratified or domesticated this convention.
