Abuja MoU at the 11th Committee Meeting held on the 20th – 21st October 2021, in Lagos, Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was an hybrid meeting with onground participants from Sierra Leone, Republic of Congo, Togo, Cote d’ Ivoire, The Gambia, Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.
Also, physically present at the meeting is the Chairman and the Vice Chairman of the Abuja MoU in person of Honourable Kwaku Ofori Asiamah (Minister of Transport, Ghana) and Rt. Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, (Minister of Transportation, Nigeria). Among other dignitaries present is the Minister of Transport and Aviation of Sierra Leone -Mr. Kabineh M. Kallon, the Chairman of Intersessional Management Working Group (ISMWG) – Dr. Paul Adaliku, former Secretary General of the Abuja MoU, Barr (Mrs) Mfon Usoro and Minister of State for Transportation, Federal Republic of Nigeria – Senator Gbemi Saraki.
Virtual Attendance includes delegates from Cape Verde, South Africa, Liberia, Republic of Guinea ,Guinea-Bissau, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon and Benin.
Decisions and recommendations were made at the meeting as regards the Port State Control activities in the Abuja MoU region. One of the high point at the meeting is the confirmation of the Acting Secretary General of the Abuja MoU – Capt Sunday Umoren as the Substantive Secretary General of the Abuja MoU.
