Celebrating the Day of the Seafarer – 25 June

Today, we join the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and all the Maritime Administrations in celebrating the year 2024 Day of the Seafarer. This annual event, held on June 25th, acknowledges the invaluable contributions of seafarers to international trade, the global economy, and our everyday lives.

Seafarers play a crucial role in the maritime industry, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of goods across the world’s oceans. Their dedication and hard work often go unnoticed, but today, we take the time to recognize and appreciate their efforts and sacrifices.

This year, the campaign theme is #SafetyTipsAtSea, focusing on seafarers’ contributions to making the maritime sector a safer workplace.

Get Involved:

Seafarers: Share your top safety tips and photos from your life at sea. Whether it’s showcasing the gear you use, your work environment, or the training you receive, your experiences are crucial for promoting maritime safety.

Seafarer Organizations: Highlight how you support seafarers in staying safe. Share photos of your training programs, safety equipment, or support services to demonstrate your impact on maritime safety.

Wider Public: Show your appreciation for the hard work of seafarers and emphasize the importance of their safety. Your support is essential in raising awareness about the significance of safety at sea.

The Abuja MoU remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of all seafarers and the protection of our marine environment.

Together, we can make a difference.

Join us in celebrating the Day of the Seafarer and showing our appreciation for these unsung heroes of the sea. Let the camera roll and share your support with #SafetyTipsAtSea.
