On November 23, 2023, Equatorial Guinea deposited its Letter of Acceptance, solidifying its commitment to fostering regional unity and cooperation in maritime affairs. This significant step forward marks a new era in the Abuja MoU, with a now-expanded alliance of 20 member States.

Capt. Sunday Umoren, Abuja MoU Secretary General, and Excmo. Sr. D. Honorato Evita Oma, Ministerio de Transportes, played instrumental roles in this achievement, officially welcoming Equatorial Guinea to this esteemed group.

The Secretariat, representing the Chairman Hon. Ebrima Sillah, the Vice-Chairman Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, and the 19 existing member States, extends a warm welcome to Equatorial Guinea. This collaboration enhances the Abuja MoU’s mandate to promote safety, security, and environmental standards in the maritime Administrations across the region.
